Welcome to CSLGD 2024

Salvete/χαίρετε!

Welcome Packet: Please see the tab ‘Important Info for CSLD 2024’, for information about Latin & Greek Day this year. There you will find:

  • A Map of Holiday Hill
  • A Schedule of the day’s organized events
  • A grid of the workshops and presentations being offered
  • Descriptions of the workshops and presentations offered
  • A list of chaperones organized by school
  • 2 pages of chaperones organized by responsibility
  • A list of times specific to volleyball and soccer for schools who indicated interest
  • This year’s student diploma

What’s new/different:

  • Grumio from Cambridge Latin Course will be offering special prizes to winners of the chariot race this year!  The winning team for the boys’ and girls’ race will each win a $125 gift certificate to a local restaurant for a Latin class/club party! Remember that the procession and chariot race begin at 12:00 noon.
  • CLC has also provided a life-sized Grumio (and Cerberus!) that we will raffle off at CSLGD.  Teachers will sign up using a QR Code at the Welcome Tent.  We will pick a winner randomly after the chariot race. (see photos below)
  • We will not be holding a declamation competition this year.
  • Students will need to get an appointment ticket from the hospitality tent in order to make a Toga Teddy.  Students without a ticket will not be able to participate.
  • Students participating in Certamen must report to Tent III promptly at the signup time (9:00am for lower certamen, 10:30am for upper certamen). Teams who are not present at signup time or their matchup time will forfeit their entry.
  • The bag check this year will be located in the ‘ballfield concessions’ building.  This will better protect them from potentially wet or muddy conditions.

Reminders:

  • Please make sure students are wearing ancient Greek/Roman dress.  This is required for all activities including athletic events. N.B. Sandals are not recommended for those competing in certain sports, and Holiday Hill staff may disqualify individuals without proper footwear.
  • Please make sure your chaperones know their assignments and encourage them to report promptly. This is critical to a smooth, educational, valuable day for all of our students.
  • Check this website for the latest rules, event info, and helpful tips leading up to Latin & Greek Day.

Thanks everyone, have a great time on Thursday!
