Workshops et Cetera

Salvete!

The Latin Day committee has been working hard to put together a fantastic experience for students at CSLD 2017. Here’s the list of workshops for this year.  In addition to some exciting new and returning ones, you’ll find a ‘Giant Painted Roman Mosaic Flashmob’, a community-centered and cooperative project to complement our many competitions at Latin Day.

This is your final reminder about Ecce Videos.  These are due midnight on April 1st.  All details can be found here.

Finally, registration will be closing soon.  Please send in any last-minute forms as soon as possible.  All information about how to register can be found here.

Projects Update

With just 3 weeks left until the deadline of April 1st at midnight, this is a great time to share CSLD’s Ecce! Video Contest with students.  Ecce! videos (not related to the textbook) are short, student-made videos that earn directors recognition and an Oscar-style trophy at Latin Day.  The categories are Documentary, Drama, Comedy, and Foreign Language.  It’s amazing what a Latin student with a smart phone can create.  For rules, directions, and details, click here.

Teachers should also take a look at the revised guidelines for display projects this year.  Among the changes, we’ve consolidated and broadened the categories, and eliminated any per-school limit on submissions.  You may find that a project in your curriculum now fits into a new category.  We are also asking that schools print project labels and bring them to Latin Day.  We hope this will reduce paper, confusion, and time at setup.

A big thanks to the project committee for your work preparing for CSLD 2017!

Springing Toward Latin Day

Salvete Omnes!

The calendar has turned to March, and that means CSLD 2017 is right around the corner!  Latin clubs across the state are busily constructing chariots, decorating banners, and recording Ecce videos.  There’s so much to do already!  With Spring in the air, now is the time to reserve your school’s spot in our humble celebration.  So far registration forms have been trickling in, and we know plenty of teachers are just now copying those permission slips.  Expect to receive an email confirming the number of attendees as we process incoming registrations.

For any teachers interested in promoting Latin Day 2017 to students, parents, administrators, maybe even other colleagues, here is a CSLD brochure you can print out and use:

Also, this year we will be adding a late fee of $40 per school to any registrations postmarked after April 1st.  Timely registration allows us to organize the event, process payments, and prepare the venue fairly.  Thank you.
