Final Reminders and Info

We hope everyone’s getting excited for Friday.  Last week we updated and posted all of the forms under Important Info for CSLD 2018, so check for any forms you might want to reference, print and/or bring to Latin Day.

Admission Letter: We also emailed an ‘admission letter’ to everyone registered, which was sent in lieu of the big ‘admission packet’ that we used to send.  A couple of things to know:

  1. You will need to check in at the Welcome Tent on arrival in order to receive your bracelets.  We will hand each school an envelope with exactly the number of bracelets that you registered and were confirmed for.  Schools with additional people will not be admitted.
  2. You don’t need the ‘admission letter’ to enter CSLD 2018.  You should print out what you need from the mailing but you will not need to present anything.  I apologize for the naming of this.

Chaperones: You might notice we’ve worked to make chaperone duties more equitable this year.  Regular chaperones are expected to help for 1.5 hours.  If you would like to help out longer by coming earlier or staying later at your assignment, this is welcome and encouraged, but not required.  Also be aware that set up and clean up time has been built into the schedule for most events.

Please be sure you prepare yourself and fellow chaperones for your/their assigned duties, and encourage everyone to do their share.  If you had a positive or negative experience with a chaperone, feel free to share with us.  We are interested in your feedback on all of the changes this year, so please take a minute to fill out the followup survey when it’s sent out.

General Preparation: In addition to chaperones, prepare the students.  Make sure they know what is and isn’t Roman attire, go over your diploma expectations, and show them the various schedules.  Kids get the most out of the day when they aren’t just wandering, and they might have the time to look over schedules even if you can’t in class.

Website Documents: These are the website documents mentioned in the admission letter.  They are officially subject to change before Latin Day.  See other tabs for official rules.

Registration Closed, Schedule of Events

Thank you everyone for sending in registrations on time.  I am currently working through the ones I’ve received, but certainly have my work cut out.  Expect to receive a confirmation email when your registration has been processed, and please double check that the numbers are correct.

Registration is now closed.  I will be posting a list of schools attending when I’ve processed everything.

Also, let me thank the people who volunteered to make and bring lumpies.  We can still use one more volunteer, so please reach out if you’re willing to help.

I’ve been asked about a schedule for the day, so here’s a draft Schedule of Events 2018.  One change is that we will present the new Lister and Mayer awards on the lower fields, before the chariot race.

Academic Contests, Postmark Deadline Today

This year we’ll be offering two sessions of Academic Contests once again.  Sessions will run from 10-11:30 and 12:15-1:45.  Most subjects will only be offered at one session or the other.

Morning Session 10-11:30

Afternoon Session 12:15-1:45

Also, today is the deadline for postmarking CSLD registration and checks.  If we haven’t heard from you, we are expecting that either the check is in the mail or you’re not coming.  We will be meeting with Holiday Hill, and drafting schedules, duties, etc. next week (our April Break).  If you have an issue, you need to let us know immediately.
